Description

My first smaller version Luna :) She is approx. 16" tall and similar size to my15/16" mares (on  the last photo you can see a comparison of sizes with 15/16" regular mare pattern).

Princess Luna is commission for :iconthecosplayer: and is not for sale.
She is made out of midnight blue, jewel, electric blue, black and dusty minky fabrics and has machine embroidered eyes, cutie marks and details on  the horn. The wings contain wires and are posable.

This is a really excellent example of custom plush creation!

The color choice, details, construction, and proportions are superb. The wings in particular seem very appropriate for the canon show appearance of Luna, and her small smile is very much in character. The eyes are also especially good: the use of various colors to give them depth makes them look much more alive.

An explanation of my star ratings:
Vision: this is a show-ready plush, executed cleanly and beautifully. Frankly it's better than anything Hasbro will ever produce - which while not surprising from a dedicated and skilled custom plush maker, is still worth noting!

Originality: The approach and materials use are truly excellent. This is the one category that feels a bit 'normal', though: it's a standard standing pose, with little in the way of dynamics in the body and expression. Beautiful and well done? Absolutely! But there is room for a more creative interpretation of Luna.

Technique: Very, very high quality work! The only reason this isn't 5 stars is little things: the back of the mane is one big mass (I know there's not much that can be done about it and have no constructive ideas, but that's how it strikes me). The proportions of the cutie mark seem slightly off (the smaller spots vs. the main spot that has the moon), though that's VERY Minor. And last, the collar / throat emblem's shape is a bit simple and ends up looking like a bib. Again, these are quite minor to me, which is why it's only 1/2 star off!

Impact: A really lovely plush! But between the static pose and small smile and the minor technique critiques I've discussed it gets only four stars.

All that said, I wouldn't hesitate a moment to add this lovely Luna to my collection were I able to do so. All in all a fabulous pony plush!
